Acura Integra Type S Earns Coveted 2024 Car and Driver 10Best Cars Award
Posted on February 14, 2024
Winning a spot in Car and Driver 10Best Cars, the Acura Integra Type S is a remarkable vehicle to drive. The judges spent two weeks testing the various cars one after the other to determine which 10 were the best of the best. The award helps solidify the Integra as a world-class sedan and a coveted 2024 car.
About the Award
Car and Driver is an American automotive enthusiast magazine with a prominent online blog. With great dedication, they explored the new cars and, for two weeks in 2023, spent that time inspecting the performance and capabilities of various new cars. Included vehicles are the latest and significantly changed models with a $110,000 or less value in America. Cars that couldn’t be included in the 2023 test due to release dates were also tested.
Voting for the 10best category uses an overall score of 0 - 100 instead of a typical scoring over several categories. Similarly to figure skating, the highest and lowest scores are removed before the rest are compiled into a spreadsheet by the judges. Vehicles are tested on over 200 points while being driven hundreds of thousands of miles on a test track.
Why Was the Integra Type S Chosen?
The Integra Type S was chosen for its powerful 2.0-litre engine, expertly paired with a manual six-speed transmission. Honda’s dual-axis front struts help mitigate torque steer while providing more responsive steering. Additionally, the Acura is the only manual transmission of its class.
Since the Type S’s return to the lineup in 2023, it has quickly become one of the best-selling options in the premium sport compact segment. The Integra captures around 40% of sales in its class, with the Type S representing 10% of the sales mix since its arrival to dealers in June.
About the 2024 Acura Integra Type S
The Acura Integra Type S has plenty to offer drivers, with a remarkable engine and the only manual transmission of its class. Manual transmission allows for finer control over the vehicle's power output, letting you more accurately control the 320 horsepower and 310 lb-ft torque engine.
The model features four trims with a starting price of $41,579* for its base A-SPEC trim. However, the Type S, which won the award, starts at $58,329* and is the only Integra trim to feature the 2.0-litre engine.
The Type S offers a seating capacity of four with Ultrasuede/leatherette-trimmed upholstery and perforated suede incorporated. The model provides plenty of comfort to accompany its power and performance on the road.
